1. Introduction
This document will introduce applications of V-CHIP ZigBee Mesh Network.
2. Mesh Network
Mesh networking is an important way to let ZigBee achieves reliability. Mesh networking essentially provides three enhanced capabilities to a wireless network: extended range through multi-hop, ad-hoc formation of the network, and most importantly automatic route discovery and self healing.
3. V-Chip Mesh Network Applications
We have TWO typical applications on ZigBee Mesh Network:
l Data collection system
l Home Automation system
4. Data Collection System
4.1. System description
4.1.1. Framework
The Data Collection System is composed of one gateway device and many meters as Figure 1 shows.
1.1.1. Objectives
l Gateway request meter data periodically or at a given time
l Meter collect sensor data and transfer to gateway when gateway request data
l Gateway can save data
l Some meters may be out of range of gateway RF radius, but their data can be transferred to gateway by this mesh network through multi-hop.
l A handheld can be added into the network to collect meter data or gateway data.
1.1.2. Device type
Gateway acts as coordinator and the meter acts as router. A handheld may act as an end device if user needs it.

Can support ONE Gateway and 100 Meters communication.
